SAS live at Almedalen
Just as Folkemødet och Arendalsuken, Almedalen is a great place to discuss burning issues. The main topic this year will most probably be how to secure a sustainable future for our planet and for future generations. It is vital for SAS to take an active part in these discussions, as we strive to be the leading, sustainable airline.
Therefore, SAS will be present at Almedalen for four days. We will host our own solid program of seminars with partners and politicians, such as Airbus, PREEM and Swedavia. Topics of discussion will range from the development of electric aircraft, our increased use of biofuel, innovation and digitalization within aviation, enhanced cooperation with airports and much more.
Our Head of Environment and CSR, Lars Andersen Resare together with members of our General Management, such as Rickard Gustafson, Mattias Forsberg and Karl Sandlund, will participate and show SAS sustainability agenda in seminars hosted by both us and others.
At Folkemødet earlier this year, SAS was present to participate in debates and panel discussions about sustainable air travel, and about how innovation and cooperation within the industry is vital for sustainable development. The debate was a collaboration between SAS, Dansk Luftfart and Naviair and COO Lars Sandahl was SAS representative in the panel. After the summer, Arendalsuken is taking place – where the same important topics will be highlighted, and SAS will be present to share our goals and ambitions to bridge the gap to sustainable air travel.
Sustainability being the focus in all three events in Scandinavia, SAS recognizes the importance of the traveling to and from Almedalen, Folkemødet and Arendalsuken should be as sustainable as possible. Therefore, SAS has replaced the equivalent of 50% of the fuel used on routes Stockholm-Visby in Sweden, Copenhagen-Rønne in Denmark and Oslo-Kristiansand in Norway, to Biofuel during each week. All tickets sold on these routes during the weeks are also CO2 offset for.
